Yum, pie!

Bought a bunch of fresh blueberries at the Farmer's Market. Couldn't believe they still had some but I'm sure glad they did because warm pie with vanilla ice cream is so good!

Steven's last day of preschool

Steven originally was going to start at his new school on Monday, August 22. The principal explained that it was good for the kids to have their "own" first day because the teacher could spend more time with them. Well, his teacher had a different perspective so we decided that we'd compromise and start him on Wednesday. We really wanted him to have his last day at preschool because all of the kids leaving for kindergarten or other places were having one; Steven really liked talking about their last day.

So let's go back to Monday. I got an email from his teacher in the morning that he wasn't feeling well. No fever just really acting funny and saying his tummy hurt. Then he puked. He had a low grade fever so we brought him home and kept him there on Tuesday. However, Tuesday was supposed to be his last day and I really wanted him to see his friends so Tommy made a fruit pizza and we decided he would go to school for lunch and then share the treat. Then he puked, again. I came home to do the afternoon shift and Tommy went to work. Steven took a nap in our bed, I was fearful that he would lose it on our sheets but he didn't. After nap we headed over to school for snack and a few minutes playing with his Christ the King preschool buddies.

They even made him a good luck sign with all of their hand prints inside. It was really cute! I wish he could have had a better last day with his friends. He has grown a lot since starting there and his friends and teachers have been very good to him.

Hootenanny at the Homestead Part V

I couldn't leave the hootenanny without using my fancy zoom lens to get really artsy photos. Well, try to at least.

Hootenanny at Homestead Part IV

Birthdays are best celebrated with Friends and Family!

Paint another gigantic sign ...

Eat some cake.

Spend time with your sons.

Dance the night away!

Graciously let your grandkids horn in on your special moment!

Hootenanny at the Homestead Part III

There can never be enough good music at a Hootenanny! Steve's old band friends and the Cabbageheads arrived on the mountain ready to show us all a good time.

Hootenanny at the Homestead Part II

Lesson learned. Never leave your children under the watchful eye of their dad during a hootenanny. The bathtub will never be the same.

Hootenanny at the Homestead Part I

What do you do when Grandma turns 60 and the house is *almost* finished? You throw the best darn tootin hootenanny this side of Sugarloaf Mountain!

Giant signs get painted and hung! (Yes, I know Est. doesn't have a "b" but it was 137 degrees out when I was painting, at least everything else was spelled correctly and I even got creative and added horns to the Ts. My brain was too fried by the time I got to the established part.)

Commemorative t-shirts were worn.

Even the Longhorns got a moment in the spot light.

Water painting

Amongst the parking space clearing activities, sign painting and hanging, food prep, yard cleaning, ice chest filling and other party preparations there were two little rascals needing constant attention.

Since I was going to paint later that morning the brushes were out and the kids were playing with them. We decided to fill up a couple of cups of water and paint on the front porch. It was loads of fun and occupied them for quite awhile.

Even did a good thing for cleaning up some of the dirt and dust on the location where the band was playing later that night!
